People practice - mum

Mum has Alzheimers and at the grand old age of 86 she seems to picking up more little infections and ailments. This week she called us Monday as she was struggling to breathe and her heart rate was high. Paramedics diagnosed a chest infection and advised I would need to stay with her for a couple of days. Not ideal but mum comes first.

Spending more time with her it becomes clear that she often goes off into her own little world now. She loves to watch early afternoon tv quiz shows such as Tipping Point and The Chase. As she was watching zoned out I was sat in the sofa trying not to go mad as these quizzes aren't really my thing. I had my iPad with me so decided to have a go and drawing mum. As we know my sketching leaves a little to be desired yet but as mum sat stationary for quite a long time I had more of a chance to amend and redraw areas I wasn't happy with and in the end I was quite happy with it. Not mum exactly but I could see what her likeness was there. I also helped me remember that moment in time much clearer and as time passes on and mum is no longer here, that will have increased significance.

Was hesitant about showing mum but decided I would and she really liked it and despite her day to day confusion, she recognised it was her and that will do for me.
