First lino cut experiment
On Saturday I ordered a lino cut kit from Amazon and it arrived here yesterday (Sunday) Rough health day yesterday so sat on the doormat until late this morning when I was up to opening it up.
Kit was easy enough to figure out. And that was the end of the easy bit.
Lino cutting is definitely much harder than I envisaged. To be honest not sure how well I am going to be able to carry out this exercise given my first experience today.
Started trying to practice cutting standard grey lino supplied but struggled so had a go at the easy cut sample also provided. The grey is harder for sure but the cuts are definitely cleaner. The easy cut does what it says but its like cheese string - really hard to finish off the cuts.
As a result there's is lots of 'chatter' - bits that pick up ink that haven't been cut back accurately enough.
Prints worked easier on on copy paper but was a struggle to get it to transfer to watercolour paper. Waiting on some cartridge paper - that might be a happy medium. We'll see when it arrives.
