Cafe sketch
Finished watercolour
I really know that I need to get on with other work but really struggling to focus on anything at the moment as health is not great so just keeping busy with some drawing and painting for fun at the moment. Nothing is ever wasted.
After Sal and I visited two museums in Margate, we went to a café we hadn't been too before, Ralphs in the Market Sq in Margate Old Town.
Such a cool vibe in there and was one of the first times recently that I felt compelled to grab my pencils and do some rough sketches. Only spent about five mins before we enjoyed an amazing lunch but, along with a couple of photos, gave me enough to work on when I got home.
Original rough pencil sketch in cafe
Sketched, using ink and nib pen, some elements to be put together in drawing on layout paper
Sketch iteration from elements
Refined sketch transferred to watercolour paper and inked with a marker.
With too much to do and not enough time to do and energy reserves low, I spent way too much time on this but I really really enjoyed experimenting with creating work this way.
I think some of my proportions are out and that lots could be improved but overall I am happy with this as a finished piece of pen and wash work. Here's to more to come.
